sometimes you just want a big ol’ salad for dinner…

and SOMETIMES you eat all of your calories for the day during lunch, and can’t eat anything else but salad for dinner.

  • 3 cups spinach
  • 1/2 apple
  • 1 tbsp parmesan/asiago cheese
  • 1 tsp trader joes caesar dressing

there are two less pints of ice cream for sale in upstate new york

went to visit my parents this weekend. totally pumped myself up to eat 1200 calories a day…ended up eating 2000+ each day (and by 2000+ i really mean 3000+ probably).

but i can’t look bad and be disappointed. those are the choices i made, and now i just have to keep moving forward. i will make this week be good.

i didn’t lose one damn pound last week. in fact i gained 1/2, despite eating within my calories (1200-1400) every day, and working out for 40+ min 5x during the week.

i just don’t even know what to say. it’s really hard to see the positivity in waking myself up 2 hours early every morning before work to go to the gym when I don’t get any results from it. I don’t care about inches at this point. I care about pounds.

i ended up eating about 1800 calories today because i’m just so frustrated with my body. Worked on the elliptical for 60 min and did an uphill walk as a cool down for 10 minutes. Just got back from a 60 min yoga class a little while ago.

i guess ill just keep trucking along this week or whatever. going to wake up an extra 15 minutes early every day and get 55 min in instead of 40. maybe that will make a difference? who knows.

went to the chinese new year parade today:

it’s all about balance…

I haven’t had chocolate in almost a month! Tonight, instead of sitting in front of the TV and having my way with an entire bag of dark chocolate covered pretzels, I instead ate a servings-worth and pre-planned it out in my calorie allotment, so I didn’t end up feeling bad the rest of the night. It’s all about balance in life, and between my double workout yesterday, and carrying heavy groceries from Manhattan back to Brooklyn, I’m balanced enough to enjoy a dessert!

And dinner tonight: “Pizza”

  • 1 Whole wheat wrap
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 tsp caesar dressing
  • 1 tbsp mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 trader joes andouille sausage
  • 1/3 apple

if you aren’t a beginner…

…then why are you taking a beginner’s yoga class? You’re throwing the curve WAY off, buddy. My arms and legs are dead. Love that class.

Here’s breakfast from this morning:

  • 1/2 medium apple
  • 2/3 cup of Kashi heart to heart

Tonight didn’t end up as planned. I left work at 7 and ended up waiting 1/2 hour for the stupid F train. I didn’t get to the grocery like I wanted, but I still met my calorie goals.

Dinner tonight:

Spinach, egg, and chicken sausage wrap

  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 egg white/1 whole egg
  • small amount of mozzarella shreds
  • 1/2 chicken sausage link (trader joe’s andouille sausage)
  • 2 cups trader joes rice puffs

I love these puffs soooo much. I could easily go way overboard if I didn’t pre-measure out the amount that I can have with a meal.

Friday, please come soon, this week has not been my friend.

dinner

I found spring roll paper in my cabinet that I had forgot about! Luckily, they are still good to eat! So I made very non-traditional spring roll:

  • One spring roll wrap
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • apple cut into strips (about 2/10 of a small apple)
  • 5 slices cucumber cut into strips
  • shredded chicken

It may not look good all rolled up (my skills are rusty and I overpacked them), but man was this delicious!

Brunch

In an effort to eat everything in my fridge before I leave this apartment, here’s brunch:

  • One whole egg
  • One egg white
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • Very small amount of mozzarella cheese
  • Pinch of Tony Chachere seasoning
  • 1/2 serving of Trader Joes edamame crackers
